Mascon is pleased to announce some exciting upgrades to our TV content delivery system over the next few months. Please scroll down to review planned dates for the upgrade and FAQ’s.
- Changing 67 existing TV channels to HD and adding new radio TV channels. (Scroll down to FAQs for complete list.)
- Adding six new TV network channels: HLN HD, Deutsche Welle (previously only available to Chase and Sicamous), CTV Edmonton HD, Fox Sports Racing HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, and Yule Log HD.
- COMING SOON: Pay-Per-View (PPV) ordering service is currently unavailable. Once updates to the PPV system are complete, TV customers in select Mascon serviceable communities will take advantage of ordering live event PPV content directly from the on-screen guide on HD PPV channels 701 and 703 using the set-top box remote control.Note: Upon completion of the PPV system update, PPV content will be limited to Live Events only, movies will no longer be available for order. TV customers in Silver Creek, Sunnybrae, Lee Creek, St Ives, and Mara will only be able to order PPV by calling 1-866-832-6020 during office hours Monday to Friday. All other TV customers will make PPV orders exclusively through the on-screen guide
Beginning in April, the new TV content delivery system launches first in Sunnybrae with the roll-out for all communities to be completed by the end of October 2019. Roll-out of the Pay-Per-View update to select communities follows closely.

FAQ’s
1. Why is Mascon making this change?
The new TV content delivery system will improve your TV subscription experience. The new delivery system reduces the amount of electronic equipment required in each of our head ends which lessens equipment failure resulting in a more reliable and scalable service offering to our customers.The added benefit of less power consumption helps our environment too.
2. Will I experience loss of service during the upgrade?
Mascon is taking steps to ensure the upgrades are as seamless as possible and will perform the switch to the new system during early morning hours to minimize impact to customers.
3. Will the cost of my services increase?
No, the upgrade will not affect the cost of your services.
4. Will I need to purchase a new digital set-top-box receiver?
We have tested each type of digital set-top-box receiver currently used in our systems to ensure your existing set-top-box receiver will continue to work. You will not need to purchase new equipment if you are using a current digital set-top-box receiver.
5. Will I need an HD TV to watch HD TV channels?
Yes, an HDTV-input-equipped television set is required to watch TV programming in High-Definition quality.
However, if you don’t have an HDTV-input-equipped television you will still be able to view all HD channels without any issue in Standard Definition quality.
6. Will my current channel subscription change?
The new system will have the same channels available on the same channel numbers and theme packages with a few changes:
- Pay-Per-View will be exclusively available for direct order from the on-screen guide on channels 701 and 703. Only Live Events PPV content is available for order. PPV movie content is no longer available.
- Note: TV customers in Silver Creek, Sunnybrae, Lee Creek, St Ives, and Mara will have to order PPV by calling 1-866-832-6020 during office hours Monday to Friday.
- Headline News (HLN) HD – Channel 255 will be added to the International News theme pack, along with Deutsche Welle – Channel 256 which was previously only available to subscribers in Chase and Sicamous.
- CTV Edmonton HD – Channel 270 will be replacing CTV HD (previously CTV Toronto SD which already has an HD version on Channel 268) in the Networks Timeshift theme pack
- Fox Sports Racing HD – Channel 326 will be available again in the More Sports theme pack
- National Geographic Wild Canada HD – Channel 433 will replace American Heroes Channel in the Adventure theme pack
- Yule Log HD – Channel 942 will be added to Digital Starter
- ABC HD – Channel 260, NBC HD Channel 261, CBS HD – Channel 262 and FOX HD – Channel 263 will change from Detroit to Boston feeds. Network TV show programming is subject to change based on what is broadcast on the Boston feed.
